Family Cycle Training Course -Tower Hamlets
The Free* Family Cycle Training course
is a 3-day course of 2-hour daily sessions.
This course is offered during school holidays.
Our next course takes place on the following date:
Tuesday 28th, Thursday 30th and Friday 31st May.
Families can choose either a morning or afternoon time slot:
The morning course sessions are 10:00 – 12:00
The afternoon course sessions are 12:30 – 14:30
This is a bespoke course for families of maximum 3 beginners or 6 improvers per family.
1 family per instructor.
The course is focused on your family’s needs and expectations. At the beginning of the course, you will discuss with your instructor what you are looking to achieve during the course and be assessed in the park.
Day 1: In the park
- Your instructor will teach a light version of the bikeability syllabus: control skills & how to snake together in the park, preparing you to cycle safely on quiet roads on day 2 as a group.
Day 2 & Day 3: You have a few options, depending on your level:
- Cycle rides to discover new parks and quiet roads
- Light cycle training to progress the whole family to a level 2, giving you the skills needed to cycle on-road safely at the end of the course.
- Practicing routes from home to school and back
What should I wear?
We train in all weather. Please come dressed for being outdoors and wear clothing that will not get caught in the wheels or the chain of a bicycle. For example, gloves, waterproof warm jacket, trainers, sunglasses, no long skirts.
Deposit
*The course is free. Bikeworks charges a fully refundable £10.00 deposit for the full 3 day course, which will be returned in full on completion of the full course. We have a 48 hour cancellation policy (Mon-Fri), after this time we will be unable to refund your deposit.
Eligibility
You must live, work or study in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and anyone 16 years or under must be accompanied by an adult.

Meet your instructor at our East London Hub; located East side of Victoria Park – Entering from Parnell Road, approximate postcode E3 2LA.

Bike Rental
If you are unable to provide your own cycles, we will be able to supply one for free with a helmet at our Victoria Park Cycling Hub.
All Cycles and Helmets will be sterilised before and after every session.
