Inclusive CPD

Our Inclusive CPD equips Bikeability Instructors with the confidence, skills and practical techniques needed to deliver truly inclusive cycle training.

Built from 20 years of lived experience and informed by our role as a Bikeability Regional Delivery Centre (RDC), this training supports instructors to meet the needs of disabled riders and those with diverse support requirements.

Across London, too many disabled children, young people and adults still miss out on the opportunity to learn to cycle. While Bikeability is a core route into cycling, it is not yet fully inclusive for every rider.

As a recognised Bikeability Regional Delivery Centre (RDC), Bikeworks plays a central role in developing London’s cycling workforce. Our Inclusive CPD responds directly to the need for stronger inclusive practice, deeper understanding of diverse rider needs, and confident use of specialist adapted cycles.

Our Inclusive CPD develops instructor capability in four core areas:

• Inclusive practice: adapting instruction to different learning and support needs
• Understanding diverse riders: including disabled and SEND learners, families and adults
• Specialist adapted cycles: safe use, fitting, risk awareness and fleet handling
• Inclusive Bikeability delivery: from first contact and assessment to on-road progression

Strengthening these skills leads to more confident instructors and safer, more accessible cycling experiences for disabled riders.
