What is it?

To work as a professional mechanic you need a level 2 City and Guilds qualification, or level 2 Cytech. We offer City and Guilds training as it is a widely recognised qualification at the same level as an NVQ.

A level 2 course covers:

  • Headsets, bottom brackets and bearings
  • Wheel building
  • Frame preparation
  • Gears
  • Hub servicing
  • Accessory fitting

The course takes 2-3 weeks depending on the prior experience of the cohort.

Who is it for?

The course is for anyone who wants to learn advanced bicycle maintenance, either to further their career, start a new career, or to be a master tinkerer.

We run sessions when there is demand, and we aim to run at least 2 per year.
