Do you want to instruct cycle training to groups of children or adults? This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to deliver Bikeability as a professional Instructor.

What is 1st4sport Level 2 award in delivering cycle training?

Developed in partnership with The Bikeability Trust, the 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training is designed to prepare learners for employment as a cycle training instructor, specifically working to, and delivering, the National Standard for Cycle Training.

Why should I do it?

The qualification content is derived from Role 6 of the National Standard for Cycle Training (Deliver Cycle Training). It is relevant for learners who aspire to become a cycle training instructor in England and it sits within a progressive suite of cycle training qualifications.

How long does it take? How will I be assessed?

The qualification consists of independent and Guided Learning (learning under the direct guidance of a tutor) comprising of 9 e-learning Modules, a 3-day in-person course (technical days), and a practical Final Assessment. The Total Qualification Time is approximately 92 hours which includes 71 Guided Learning Hours.

What are the entry requirements?

  • You must be an experienced cyclist, competent and comfortable riding in busy urban traffic
  • You must be at least 18 years of age
  • You must be able to communicate in English
  • Portfolio tasks such as session plans and risk assessments are usually completed online. Participants will need access to a computer/ internet to complete their e-portfolio. The e-learning Modules should be completed before the 3 Technical Days. Additional homework should be expected during and after the course. Paper based portfolios can be arranged where computer access or skills are an issue.

What is the cost of the course?

The price is £840 inclusive of VAT. This price includes one Post Course Assessment (PCA) within London, where we assess you teaching real life learners. Should further PCA’s be required there are additional charges for this.
