Barclays launch sponsorship of Bikeworks cycle into work programme

Barclays today launched its sponsorship of Bikeworks cycle into work programme. Barclays Chairman Marcus Agius & ITV presenter Christine Bleakely visited Bikeworks today to launch the partnership.

Hundreds of disadvantaged Londoners will have the opportunity to find employment with the help of Cycle into Work, a community investment programme supported by Barclays. Financial, volunteering and mentoring support from Barclays and its employees will see the scheme expanded and an increase in the number of disadvantaged individuals who are able to improve their job prospects.

Marcus Agius, Group Chairman, Barclays said: Barclays latest community investment programme Cycle into Work is a natural fit and extension of our London cycle sponsorships Barclays Cycle Hire and Barclays Cycle Superhighways. We are particularly keen to help young people develop the skills they need to manage their finances effectively, and help them build the necessary literacy, numeracy and employability skills to play a full role in society.

Bikeworks wins at the Private Business Awards 2011

Bikeworks was named Best Social Enterprise at the PWC Private Business Awards 2011 at the Savoy on Thursday, 8 September. The social enterprise award was sponsored by Wates, with Create of Leeds and Greenworks also nominated.

Dave Miller, co-director of Bikeworks, said: “We are delighted to have been successful in securing this award, gaining further recognition for Bikeworks and the strong impact our work is having. Private businesses such as Wates really understand how to successfully align social purpose with their business and it’s fantastic for us to be recognised alongside them.”

Bikeworks opens new retail premises and offices in Bethnal Green

Bikeworks has now opened a new retail premises in Bethnal Green at 138 Cambridge Heath Road which is open seven days a week to the public. An expanded range of bikes and services are available as well as of course cycle training for adults.

Our our offices are also located at the same address with coming shortly a new mechanical training centre for courses of all kinds.
