Bikeworks is hiring for a Retail Sales Assistant and Key Holder for our Bethnal Green shop

ABOUT BIKEWORKS:

Bikeworks is a social enterprise that uses cycling as a tool to tackle social and environmental challenges in the community. At Bikeworks, we sell bikes, parts and accessories, repair bikes and provide teaching and training to help people ride or fix their bikes better. Bikeworks was created with a mission to actively change lives and provide positive experiences using the bicycle. At the heart of this is our community cycling hub – the shop in Bethnal Green.

SCOPE OF THE ROLE:

The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic, responsible and personable individual, interested in undertaking an exciting, varied role with fantastic development opportunities. The focus will be sales but with the opportunity to develop into an assistant manager position and influence the direction of the retail proposition.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

– Strong work ethic and professional attitude (timekeeping, appearance, conduct)
– Bicycle retail experience with a passion for cycling and selling cycling products
– Excellent customer services skills and a genuine enjoyment for dealing with the public
– Great communication skills with a high standard of written and spoken English
– IT literacy and familiarity with POS software, Microsoft, Google Docs and suppliers’ websites
– Ability to work as part of a team

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Serving and advising customers within the shop including sales of new and re-used bikes, parts & accessories
– Opening and closing the premises including cashing up and responsibility for site security
– Managing inventory. Processing purchase orders, stock taking, making sure products are accurately labelled and priced
– Maintaining shop cleanliness and standards, replenishing stock and visual mechanising
– Some stock ordering whilst adhering to budget limitations
– Booking in bikes for workshop repairs with accuracy and carrying out some minor repairs
– Mentoring junior staff and volunteers where necessary
– All other reasonable duties as/when required

SALARY & CONDITIONS:

– Salary will be depending on skills and experience
– Minimum 30 hours per week (additional hours available if required) including regular weekend shifts
